Officially, fall begins on September 22. But since Starbucks has already rolled out the pumpkin spice and stores like Target and Michaels are covered in leaves and orange things, as far as I’m concerned…
FALL IS HERE!
Maybe it’s back to school season getting the best of me, but I’m always really on the ball around this time of year. That means, I’ve brainstormed and nailed down a few things that I want to be sure to do in this favorite season of mine.
Epcot International Food & Wine Festival
Okay, so, yes, if you scroll down, you’ll see that I have a family trip to Walt Disney World planned for November. But I have an extra special trip planned to Epcot just for me. The purpose is two-fold. First of all, my most favorite nighttime show is ending after twenty years — Illuminations: Reflections of Earth. Favorite as in, I cry every time and I definitely own the soundtrack. So, it stands to reason that I should see it one last time. It’s an added bonus that the Epcot International Food & Wine Festival will have also kicked off in time for my visit. If I try everything on my list, I’ll be spending over $250, so…
I’ve had my eye on this annual event for a long time. We never got around to it before Miles was born, but then after he was born, we wanted to wait until he could really enjoy it Well, ladies and gents, the time has come. I scoured the internet for presale codes and was able to snag our tickets before they went on sale to the public. Set on the grounds of the Van Cortland Manor in Croton-on-Hudson, NY (about an hour north of NYC), it features over 7,000 pumpkins carved and lit to create something amazing!
The Feast of San Gennaro
Much like the Blaze, the Feast of San Gennaro has been on my NYC to-do list FOREVER. Every year, it feels like I just miss it. But no more! It’s on the calendar, and the babysitter is booked. 2019 marks the 93rd years of this Little Italy staple! I’m super excited that my next date night will include several blocks of hand-holding and delicious (and authentic) Italian treats. If you’re looking for me, I’ll be the one stuffing my face with cannoli.
Unfortunately, the fall of last year was less than kind to my family. However, I still made it a point to take Miles to a farm, but since I feel like Alstede is a family thing, I decided to try a different place. We had a fun day, but it just wasn’t the same. I’m looking forward to the Fowlers’ triumphant return to Alstede this year. There will be apple picking, corn mazes, hayrides, and yes, many an apple cider donut. Aaaaand, we’ll be carefully selecting our pumpkins for carving.
Y’all. After far too long, we are headed back to Walt Disney World as a family this November. The deal I made with my husband was for a family trip every four years, but because of everything last year, we pushed the trip back an extra year. So, I am due, people! The on-site hotel is booked, dining reservations are made, and my FastPass list is ready. The last time we took Miles, he was just about three years old and he doesn’t remember much about it. This year, he helped pick which parks we’ll be hitting, and I’m so excited to experience it with him!
What about YOU?! A. Is fall also your favorite? B. Anything I’m overlooking for this time of year? Fall, fall, FALL!
