One tradition that has become very important to me is my annual Ladies Weekend. (Check out more on those here, here, and here!) This year, because of several issues health and otherwise, Miles couldn’t stay home with his dad the way he has in the past. Luckily, this year’s trip was a cruise out of Miami. That meant that I could easily drop him off with my parents for the weekend. Win-win!
Miles had never spent more than a single night apart from both David and I, and never away from home. So, by the time I made my return, he really wanted some quality time and attention from me. What better way to do that than a quick stop on the way home… at Walt Disney World.
Luckily, my friends are always game for a Disney day. We put on our rose gold ears, and off we went.
The day began at Disney’s Hollywood Studios. And things immediately began with this magic.
As much as I love my time with my girls, there are few things that bring me more joy than seeing Miles so happy! Don’t worry; the girls got a picture, too.
Since I do make it to Walt Disney World fairly regularly, I usually aim to see new things when I do go. For this trip, that meant a visit to Toy Story Land!
We headed directly to Slinky Dog Dash… Alas, it was down. We were bummed, but moved on quickly to Alien Swirling Saucers. I could take or leave spinning rides like that, but Miles loved it.
Unsurprisingly, the wait on the back-to-work Slinky Dog Dash was already well over an hour by the time we finished spinning. So, we made an early pit stop at Woody’s Lunchbox for a snack. Can I be honest? I didn’t love it. I know; it makes me super sad, too!
I tried both the S’more French Toast Sandwich and the Chocolate-Hazelnut Lunch Box Tart, and I couldn’t finish either one. I have a pretty impressive sweet tooth, but these were cloyingly so. Moving on…
After some more photo ops, we made our way over to Pixar Place for a dance party and more snacks – hooray for popcorn and Jack-Jack’s Num Num Cookie!
We snuck in a viewing of Muppet*Vision 3D — which M loved! — and then it was time for a visit to our next park: Epcot.
With just a few hours left, we managed to squeeze in quite a few things! But first, we had a very important phone call at the UK Pavilion.
We stopped to meet Wreck-It Ralph and Vanellope Von Schweetz, rode the Gran Fiesta Tour, and flew around the world on Soarin’ Around the World.
M soon got hungry. I don’t usually give in to every of his whims, but it was one day at Walt Disney World. So, when he said he wanted white pizza, we made out way over to “Italy” and their delicious Via Napoli Ristorante e Pizzeria.
Fairly soon afterward, it was time to get to the airport. Even though longer trips are fun, sometimes a whirlwind day is a good time, too. I’m so happy I got to spend an albeit quick but magical day with my friends and with my boy.
I’m already looking forward to our big family trip in November! Do you love Disney too?
